THE GORGE OF THE DEAD. A ravine known as the "Ravine of the Dead" runs through both the upper and lower parts of the ancient site, named after the numerous burials that have been found in the caves along its walls. It is also one of the most impressive gorges in Crete due to its steep sides and unusual rock formations. On Sunday Jennifer and I went to The Valley of the Dead on Crete’s east coast.
